Annie Lloyd-Hyde

Annie Lloyd-Hyde
also known as Anne Yeadon,
Creator of educational resources and Spelling Zappers
Annie Lloyd-Hyde is a Sheffield poet who writes poetry that aims to create a connection. She wants her poetry to resonate and her themes - both universal and personal - do just that.
If you've ever loved and lost, indulged in a chocolate fest, found spiders a bit of a problem, then you might find that connection.
“Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, this is accessible poetry that provides insight and solace as well as humour and pathos”

Afternoon Tea in the Jungle with ...
"The whole of life is coming to terms with yourself and the natural world. Why are you here? How do you fit in? What is it all about?"
Sir David Attenborough

This is a book inspired by the naturalist Sir David Attenborough. His passion and love of the natural world is contagious and profoundly moving. From the world of the forest to the ocean depths, these poems create a world we want to save.
A copy of this poetry book was sent to Sir David Attenborough, who said he liked it and mentioned specifically the illustrations, by Sheffield-based artist Fran Rawlings.
I Killed Him for
His Wardrobe Space
This first book reflects the poet's dry wit and it introduces you to the range of themes and styles of her writing.
One reviewer said, "Annie writes about universal themes that affect us all, from the serious to the more frivolous and once you've read them once you want to revisit them."
Girl Good Enough
Give it to your daughters and grand-daughters!
A manual of empowerment every girl should have ... and every boy should read.
Misogyny
for Beginners
A collection of powerful poems on the theme of Misogyny. The catalyst for the poetry was a conversation between 15 and 16 year old boys. Their assummptions and expectations, when in a sexual relationship with a girl, were stunning, worrying and depressing. And all these expectations were created and enforced from porn on their phones - on a regular basis.
This conversation was part of a documentary set in a secondary school, which was considering if their present Sex Education Policy was relevant.
Enter a dynamic Sex Education teacher and it was clear that a change was needed.
This teacher used bold and innovative approaches to challenge the boys' expectations and it emboldened the girls to refuse to take part in any activity that they were not happy with.
The last poem in this collection tries to show how parents also have to grasp the bull by the horns and talk and talk and talk!
